  1. Anyone else getting 404 when clicking the title[0] ?

  2. Can't wait for all the syncopated "Thou dost well to question that" responses!
  3. Not to be confused with Run: Task runner that helps you easily manage and invoke small scripts and wrappers (weitten in Go)

  4. Wow so couldn't said security co's establish their own registry that we could point to instead and packages would only get updated after they reviewed and approved them?

    I mean I'd prolly be okay paying yearly fee for access to such a registry.

  5. Hyped for the release, but bummed they fell for the ‘next’ naming convention.

    What will the actual next advanced release be called:

    * next-next

    * next (2)

    * actual-next-final

  6. I loved reading this, but I can't help but think that a "perfect scramble" would be one that can ONLY be solved in 20 moves, i.e no shortcuts can be applied to solve in less moves. I wonder how many of those exist?
  7. Having listened now, I see what you wanted was to have David Cross read it in (almost any) one of his characters.

    We can probably arrange a Cameo to achieve this!

  8. When you realize the fungus' primary intent was to convince the fly to land in amber ...
  9. I don't know what I expected to see, but the site was full of ... Curved-Crease Sculptures ...

    Beautiful just the same!

  10. How did your site know my first/last name when I gave my email address to create an account and clicked the confirmation link you sent?
  11. OP: A single giveaway just popped up on SteamGifts today:

    https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/bloms/blue-prince

    Is this you?

  12. Ethically sourced "spare" human bodies could revolutionize the market for unethically sourced "spare" human bodies ...
  13. My god that post is a hot mess - I regret reading it
  14. Roboto Mono for me - Off to see if its on NerdFonts ...
  15. /r

    Can I (yet) just press tab and have it inspect my PATH variable for completable items?

    That is literally the only reason I gave up on it.

  16. Love this!

    Also for those interested in auto-moving chess boards, see the Go Chess project:

    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gochess-most-powerful-che...

    It takes a different approach: 1-4 "robots" under the board moving pieces around - with the goal of being able to reset the board or setup a position super-quick!

  17. Am I missing something or do you have to make a decision without being provided a single example of an upper-case character?

    The idea is great, thanks for sharing! But att I don't feel it provides enough sample data to really make an informed decision.

  18. The best thing we can do for the future of the project is to NOT engage with the project at this time ... Even just cloning the project into your private workspace to review / compile is giving more engagement than their current licensing stance warrants.

    I'll check again when an HN post comes out stating they've changed their licensing stance - Until then, closing this tab and forgetting about it ...

  19. So my morning routine is:

    * Pee

    * Weigh (naked)

    * Perform morning routine

    * Pee

    * Weigh (naked)

    My old scale had 0.2 lb granularity and certainly repeated the previous value if you stepped in it again within some certain time.

    My new scale (Etekcity) is 0.1 granularity and often comes in at 0.1 or 0.2 lbs less on the 2nd weight in.

  20. So I can run orbstack and then still use "docker run ..." etc commands like usual?

    I'm pretty happy with docker desktop generally, but looks like it stopped updating for the version of osx I'm using on my 2019 intel mbpro, so I'll definitely consider alternatives for it there ...

    Thanks for sharing !

  21. Awesome - I have designed similar things in my head dozens of times over the years. Often I end up drifting into thoughts away from these deterministic patterns and into a more adaptive approach based on how the user is performing - At least at the 'closer to the boss' parts of the levels ...

    Just the same thanks for sharing and I'm enjoying playing around with this !

  22. /complete side note, but it came to me after watching this specific video the other day.

    When seeing the ads for the new Crow on Reddit (showing up a lot in my feed), with the tagline: "Keep The Promise, Break Everything Else"

    In my mind I hear this variation on the CD quote:

    "Love With Your Heart: Use Violence For Everything Else"

  23. Ha I thought it was a tool for managing complex args for command-line tools
  24. Came for TikTok - Stayed for TikInABox - I feel low-key rick-rolled :)
  25. That page is fricken fantastic thank you for sharing!
  26. (this prolly deserves its own blog post somewhere)

    The most useful setup pattern I can share for both nix-darwin and home-manager is to configure them to store their rc files next to the system files, and not overwrite them ...

    This keeps darwin/hm from fully replacing your mac /etc/zsh* ~/.zsh* files on each update and also keeps os system updates from destroying your nix files ...

    You instead add sourcing statements in your system/home files to bring in your nix files.

    These sourcing statements are nuked after every OS upgrade so first time you login, nothing looks right in your shell.

    For this, I keep a copy of both the system file before the nix sources and a copy of the file after the nix sources ... If the post-updated version of the system file matches the backup then I can simply replace with the backup of the versions with sources included ... If they don't match, then I have to review the file, manually add the sources, and create new backups ...

    I'll also say that the system files haven't changed in a long time (zsh) so I can just copy my etc/zsh*-nix-backup files into place then restart my shell and be back to good ...

  27. When you have ${firstName}${middileInitial}${lastName}@${popularProvider}.com, you end up learning there are a LOT of people with your name who: 1) either themselves don't remember their ${hadToSettleFor} email address, i.e I get their billing reminders and medical statement emails, or 2) their loved ones/close friends don't, ie. I get party invites and group emails, etc.

    Separately, but related, I remember getting a spam email back in the late 90's where the spammer CC'd instead BCC'd, and it was sent to over 100 addresses who were all clearly variations of my first and last name ... It was a fun when there were multiple reply-alls with "Are we ALL $firstName $lastNames's on this list?" --- Surreal

  28. With the simple-ish ui, I thought for a second it was terminal based.

    With that idea in mind, I googled and found [0]

    Its the only terminal base tracker explicitly labeled as such on [1]

    Anyone know of others?
