  1. Are you paying well enough for the current market?
  2. Eh idk, medicine has its own challenges. I was a premed years ago. I’m thankful I made the change to swe. Grinding leetcode is still a great investment in the long run as long as you keep skills up to date and are a competent engineer.
  3. Tech is such an important facet of our lives these days the amount of work to do outweighs whatever was around in the early 2000s.
  4. .NET core/C# is pretty dope though and its the most widely used in fortune 500s in the backend aside from Java. It’s much less verbose than Java and any Junior engineer can pick it up if they’ve worked with OOP based languages or even JavaScript.
  5. Job listings in your local area
  6. No offense OP, but that’s a lot of money for a website with poor UX and no users. Take the money offered.
  7. It has no brand recognition. You’re not even on the market first of all.
  8. You should sell the swag. Apparently there are people across the country who buy/collect corporate swag. Especially swag of ones that are dead startups or failed businesses.
  9. Plenty of companies that pay well and have a good wlb not named Amazon
  10. I’ve stop buying name brand on Amazon (Nike, Apple products, Hanes etc) a few years ago due to poor quality assurance and potential for counterfeit — cue joke about how Nike and counterfeit Nike are made in the same sweatshop. I would happily buy counterfeit Nike but only if it’s heavily discounted. I don’t want to be tricked into buying second hand clothes, useless junk or counterfeit products. However you bring up a good point, some of products on Amazon from Asia are just fine if you’re looking for basics like T shirts and Athletic wear. But outside of that would highly suggest people buy electronics and brand name clothing elsewhere.
  11. As long as they pay top dollar for engineers, I think some folks will happily (or unhappily) work there. AWS is a behemoth and it has its tentacles in almost every piece of internet based software we use today, it’s not going anywhere unfortunately.
  12. My old boss packed up his family and moved from the Midwest US to London after he joined a new company that had offices there. Seems like a lot of folks from the states are moving to Europe.
  13. What’s it called?
  14. Last thing I would do is take engineering advice from a VC
  15. Probably an auto rejection.
  16. Musk for example -_-
  17. Been actually thinking about joining Flexport.
  18. That’s dope
  19. My problems aren’t extreme as yours but for the last couple weeks, we’ve been having niggling, and almost nonstop environment issues. It’s hard to get anything done or commit code when things beyond my control keep breaking :(
  20. Yahoo is still around but not as prominent. Could be the same with Meta.
  21. What kind of book and projects?
  22. Should have just said toxic humanistic traits
  23. Erm that’s not true at all.
  24. You’re deep in the trenches if you’ve only worked in places that don’t even provide free coffee and teas.
  25. I’d be in the office and would be more willing to accept a hybrid model if I worked at Google and got free perks like team vacations.
  26. Start a VC fund. Raise a 100mil fund and pay yourself 2 percent.
  27. Wow that guy founded Calm App.
  28. Put a porta potty in every block.
  29. Meanwhile FAANG leadership are taking meetings in their mountain homes and beach houses in the Mediterranean while we plebs are expected to commute on the daily.
  30. It was well known across the industry Apple required most people back in the offices.
