  1. Citation needed.
  2. GitHub published a postmortem for yesterday's outage already, and the cause surprised me: They blame scrapers, or rather ONE specific scraper, for taking down GitHub for 7 hours.
  3. Can anyone comment about how common this (apparently legal) practice is?
  4. Even the Cloudflare status page, hosted by Atlassian Statuspage, is suffering. Probably due to the traffic crush.
  5. Will the app requirement be disclosed at purchase everywhere? IE: If I am buying on a third-party online travel agent, will the checkout process state that in order to board the flight at the cost quoted, that I will need to have a smartphone with the app installed?
  6. How can this possibly be legal? If it truly is, the EU needs to get on it immediately.
  7. This delay in status page acknowledgement is a huge reason that my app, StatusGator, has blown up in popularity recently.

We are now regularly detecting outages long before providers acknowledge them which is hugely beneficial to IT teams.

For this Reddit outage, we alerted 13 minutes before the official status page.

Last weeks Azure outage, it was 42 minutes prior (!?!).

  8. How much has the value of the gold coins changed since you started it?
  9. Did you read this methodically written and sourced post?

It is most certainly NOT calling "anyone having doubts" a "racist".

It is calling one particular person's astonishingly racist post as exactly what it is.

  10. Reading about historical cataract removal methods was... difficult.

I feel truly lucky to have been born into a time of modern medicine.

  11. Has there been any attempt from Ruby Central to undo the damage they caused? Can anyone comment on the current state of affairs?
  12. Betteridge's law of headlines strikes again.
  13. Sorry, but this does not place enough blame on those that didn't vote (about 90 million people). I will hold responsible anyone with a heartbeat who did not vote at all in 2024.
  14. Some customers of my product, StatusGator, do this with our API. They can extract the outage data -- including the time when we detect the outage before its acknowledged. And then use that to get SLA credits.
  15. Thank you for this breakdown and for this level of transparency. We have been thinking of moving from MapTiler to OpenFreeMap for StatusGator's outage maps.
  16. We're seeing a lot of downstream effects of this at StatusGator. Of course any provider that relies on LetsEncrypt to issue certs (such as Heroku) is affected.

One notable exception is Cloudflare: They famously no longer rely solely on LetsEncrypt.

  17. I recall seeing the Mozilla Review Checker pop up on Amazon shortly after I started using it as my daily driver.

I dismissed it quickly because fake reviews is not a problem I have. Maybe I'm not the target market? I do buy a lot on Amazon but can't recall ever thinking I felt burned by fake reviews.

  18. Absolutely insane. Until recently, I had none. Now I at least have a LinkedIn account. My mother has no social media at all.
