- coffeebeqnI worked with a “CTO” who did that before LLMs - one of the worst jobs I have had in the last 10 years. I spent at least 50% of my time putting out fires or refactoring his garbage code
- I just spent a day trying to get Claude to write reasonable unit tests and then after sleeping on it, reverted everything and did it myself. I’m not gonna be using it for a while because it 0.5x’d me once again
- Wow I thought this type of business was illegal or at least a very gray area conducted on the dark web but looks like the VCs at this point have no morals left. Gambling? Amazing. Spam? Take my money. Ad fraud? Yes please
- What’s the current licensing mode? Can they fork their own version at that point in time and develop it open source ?
- It’s a fun problem to think about but even if all the problems were solved we would have very quickly deprecating hardware in orbit that’s impossible to service or upgrade
- Note that there is zero actual sales/renewal data quoted in the article so this is all the authors vibes based on how he has been able to vibe code a few things for a team of one person to use
- Opportunity cost is very real. Chasing the wrong thing for 5 years can leave you broke instead of pocketing 7 figures gross elsewhere
- Calling it suicide is assuming that most startups shouldn’t fail of “natural causes”. There’s nothing bad or unnatural about a startup not being viable. It’s not like every company can be viable just by sacrificing a bit more for a bit longer
- Autopilot based on a LLM would guarantee I’d never fly again
- I guess I’m glad they’re focusing on this rather than breaking something else in society
- I have great memories from the Warchest which had I, II and expansions. Personally though Warcraft III perfected the RPG elements and storytelling and completely overshadowed the earlier installments - it’s still probably the best game I’ve played
- Recently I rediscovered that this has been solved by a small notepad that fits in my pocket and a pen. Maybe I should get some VC money for that
- We just love to merge the internet into single points of failure
- Vibe infrastructure
- I think it’ll be more like. “Find me a tire shop within 10 miles” - “oh my goodness I just happen to have just the place for you with a special coupon CHAT25 for 25% off your first service”
- If I was writing a book review for my company (big famous VC who cares about their reputation) - I would’ve probably at least popped the book open and read a few chapters if it’s been years since I read it
- Once it can extrapolate instead of just interpolate from the training data?
- That is such an insane bet though! How many trillions can they have itching in their pockets
- OpenAI doesn’t have a product? Have we existed in the same reality for the last 3 years? Something something fastest grown user base in the history of tech
- Because you end up with a $1 value piece of crap that someone spent considerable time optimizing and faking reviews for LLMs instead of on the product. Basically in the medium term this strategy will get you temu stuff
