  1. Ghost cities of tofu dredge buildings are real. In some cases, the local government moved there offices into those places in a desperate bid to turn the tide.

Given China’s falling demographics and geopolitical events, the provinces built too much housing.

  2. > but the problem with switching to these platforms is that I still need Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office Online works fine on Linux. In fact, it’s superior to native MS Office in terms of stability.

  3. Being obligated to pay for something does not mean that we will have the ability to pay for it forever. Socialized elderly care is one of the major reasons for why our national debt is spiraling.

    You’re just arguing on emotion

  4. We cannot. A big portion of our national debt comes from socializing elderly benefits. They are not inexpensive.

It’s not cheap for children, but they are the future foundation of our economy.

  5. The genie is already out of the bottle. Even if we stopped AI development now, anyone can use an open weight model.

Besides the bigger issue is that this blog post offers no concrete way forward.

  6. Given the age population bomb, we should reduce elderly socialized benefits and offer them to children instead. We can’t afford both.
  7. According to the article Erez Hadari, the man supposedly affiliated with the organization, is in Canada at the time of writing
  8. The article names Erez Hadari as someone involved with the organization.
  9. I would get rid of the screen and replace it with projection glasses.
  10. Will it be smart if you don’t connect it to the internet? Am I missing something?
  11. Based on what I’ve seen on Sora, it’s likely possible but only for a day or a few hours. They’ve been getting better and faster at censoring.

I agree. Those characters are likely safe on Sora

  12. They don’t have customer support. Otherwise, they would make much larger inroads. Most businesses don’t want to take the risk migrating to paid Google services for that reason.
  13. It’s called thinly veiled protectionism just like the GDPR
  14. Zoho Office isn’t bad.

It looks like a lot of the project planning SAAS are trying to take the crown too.

It’s just strange that Google seemingly gave up.

  15. AWS is good but Amazon has had a fuck off page while Bezos was still there. It was one of the many tell tale signs that Amazon hit Day Two years ago.
  16. I strongly feel it’s because Valve is not a publicly traded company where they’ll eventually give up their values to meet Wall Street analyst quarterly targets.
  17. Rapid change and new things are an integral part of tech especially laptops. This is a strange complaint
  18. This points to OpenAI’s issues with lack of revenue. This also signals an eventual attack on privacy. I’m not sure paying subscribers will be immune either.
  19. Sounds like someone at Google wants a promotion…
  20. Yes, but on top of lacking features, normal people couldn’t afford gadgets from the 1900s. They were only affordable past their prime which is why I don’t understand the nostalgia. They’re only good as museum pieces

Also modern equipment is not strictly only for their original purpose. A lot of modern equipment is hackable now.
