It's sarcasm.

  1. Your router will open up any port for an ephemeral forwarding if the traffic looks like that forwarding is warranted. Any application can open arbitrary inbound pathways. "Application" also includes the Javascript you run in your Browser. Which is externally controlled.

Security folks call those techniques "hole punching" but they are how NAT is expected to work.

  2. People come for the technical talks and leave for for the politics.

Every year you got new people who find out the hard way that the CCC is a place for ardent activism, not for critical thinking.

The people who stay do it to meet their friends there.

  3. Third straw-man in a row. get lost, troll.
  4. I don't know whats more damaging - watching some beheading video when 12 or having controlling parents that do not leave you any autonomy even in the digital space.

Personally i prefer the beheading video as its not far from whats already on TV.

  5. > No one in their right mind believes that you can accomplish widespread, high speed communication via "talking to people IRL" like you can with the internet.

Nobody claimed that. I'm not sure whether this sort of comms is meaningful at all or whether "staying informed" is just the dopamine thing in effect.

    > Going back to the stone age

Its actually 20 years ago. That's less than the median age.

  6. > this person is suggesting the answer to governments taking away our ability to freely communicate is to stop freely communicating

You equate comms with internet. Maybe you should talk to people IRL more often.

  7. Link on that, as OCR should be more reliable with Times New Roman due to significant serifs.
  8. No? If signalling led to an decision, the reversal is not automatically signalling based. Calibri is just not a good font.
  9. It is racial discrimination by current legal standards. Fact.
  10. Important to mention: Alpine can run from RAM like TinyCore
  11. The dividing lines are the purest form of social construction. "arbitrary" for some people and "everyone agrees" for others.
  12. What about experimentally validating these models against reality? There is kinda a reason why we came up with the models we currently have.
  13. Your level of antagonism is unwarranted.
  14. I love how all of his PRs are torn apart as AI slop, and he is still posting about it in public as if it was some kind of success story.

I'm not sure a human would this delusional, maybe its a troll of some sort?

  15. I see no contradiction? Bitrot is caused by some other project moving. Of course the niche projects will suffer less from it if they incorporate less innovations.

Edit: You really do like calling other people liars and fascists?

  16. The equivalent of "growing grains" would be reading the documentation - SO is second-hand knowledge.
  17. I think that's less because of the license and more because people found patching gcc to be a big pain.
  18. Only on systemd/logind systems. Bitrot doesn't just happen, it caused by your dependencies considering your usecases obsolete.
  19. The settling on a dominant one does not happen - self-hosting becomes more popular.
  20. CachyOS installs it when you pick the "i3" flavour at install. Arch doesn't.
  21. No, i attempted to use CachyOS as ready-to-go distro to stop contributing. Instead of starting to contribute to CachyOS, i went back to my previous distro where i already do contribute.
  22. xob, whose binaries are taken from the AUR which hasn't been re-built since 2018.
  23. During CachyOS installation, select "i3" as desktop environment and look how many of the accessory programs die from linking errors. That should not happen with a package manager with dependency management.
  24. Actually yes. I wanted to get into UI programming with GTK 2 and right now im waiting for GTK $n to stabilize so i can commit to it.

Knowing that GTK $n-1 will soon be obsolete is enough reason to not put effort into learning it.

  25. Maybe he is going to get arrested, maybe we are observing an persecution complex.
  26. There is a thing that cool-retro-term is lacking: Letters showing up on the screen the instant you press the keyboard button.
