  1. We have new grads, they could not be replaced by AI. If you have new grads AI can replace I’m not sure why it required a college degree.
  2. Isn't this putting it in the Java territory?
  3. Is Fil-C free of runtime overhead?
  4. Intel losing great people at high speed. Not the first, not the last.
  5. I love the x220 chassis, I wonder what it’d take to make a board with a modern risc chip and open firmware for Linux for this sort of thing.
  6. This should be the sort of red flag to take note of. There’s an LLVM fork for every esoteric architecture now and this sort of thinking will lead to never being able to run your own software on your own hardware again. A reversion to the dark ages of computing.
  7. See here https://intel.github.io/intel-npu-acceleration-library/npu.h...

Maybe also note that Qualcomm has renamed their Hexagon DSP to Hexagon NN. Likely the change was adding activation functions but otherwise its a VLIW architecture with accelerated MAC operations, aka a DSP architecture.

  8. DSP is simply a compute architecture that focuses on mutliply and accumulate operations on particular numerical formats, often either fixed point q15/q31 type values or floats f16/f32.

The basic operation that a NN needs accelerating is... go figure multiply and accumulate with the added activation function.

See for example how the Intel NPU is structured here: https://intel.github.io/intel-npu-acceleration-library/npu.h...

  9. We used to call these things DSPs
  10. Well intel did layoff 45k people or so recently.. surely no coincidence
  11. I got a 265kf and motherboard for 350. Plenty fast and saves money for the real issue which is GPU costs. Thankfully B580 is actually a pretty good deal as well at 250 compared to green or red options. Team blue has some good deals out there really if you aren't tied to a team color.
  12. 50B worth of meme generating power
  13. Pinebook existed
  14. Quantity yes, quality no.
  15. Aren’t TSM fabs in the US little islands of Taiwanese workers? How is this domestic knowledge and manufacturing not exactly?
  16. I mean if the experience is as good as any x86 laptop I'd try it in terms of installing any linux distro I want. No interest in android/chromeos myself.
  17. The big win would be a linux capable device. I don't have any interest in mac os x but the apple m parts always seem amazing.

In theory this would be where qualcomm would come in and provide something but in practice they seem to be stuck in qualcomm land where only lawyers matter and actual users and developers can get stuffed.

  18. tl;dr... It's still not fast
  19. dragonwing docs are where?
  20. Uno Q... zero docs available for this dragonwing part from qualcomm, I'd say I'm shocked but... par for the course.

I wonder how this will effect Arduino moving forward.
