  1. Nuance has a unique offering: prescription hearing glasses built for noisy environments: https://www.nuanceaudio.com/en-us/c/hearing-glasses
  2. Appreciate the extra transparency on the process.
  3. Great to hear Render worked for you!
  4. (Render CEO) We're prioritizing Object Storage independent of this move.
  5. I work at Render (render.com); we have over 4 million developers on the platform, and we've migrated many large (and small) Heroku customers over because of our more modern capabilities and scalable pricing.

  6. Much-needed innovation in scaling Postgres. Congratulations on the launch!
  7. I work at Render. We've removed the phishing website from the platform.
  8. I'm a very happy paying customer of NextDNS (https://nextdns.io) which blocks known adware and tracking hosts across all mobile and desktop platforms.
  9. Not any more. We replaced it with our own code that did exactly what we needed it to do.
  10. Preview environments need some polish. We'll get there.
  11. No. It's a sad name clash.
  12. We can choose to be profitable now, but we're choosing to reinvest profits into building for the long term. Either way, not going anywhere!
  13. We're working towards HIPAA compliance this year, but I don't have an ETA.
  14. - Completely agree on more instance sizes similar out our Postgres

    - More granular secret access (and, in general, more granular RBAC) are on the list for 2025

    - Render is now ISO 27001 certified [1], and we help you pass SOC 2/ISO 27001 audits.

Thanks for the support team shoutout!

  15. We launched HTTP request logs early in 2024, which would have made things easier to debug. Similarly, we're launching full OpenTelemetry exports in a few weeks.

Deep observability is critical for more complex environments, and things are improving dramatically on this front just as they have on Postgres.

We already support AWS PrivateLink! Reach out to support@render.com.

  16. Fully managed Postgres with high availability and point-in-time recovery is a big reason developers choose Render.
  17. Object storage is a major missing piece. Stay tuned.
  18. * You can now block private network traffic from crossing environment boundaries (https://render.com/docs/projects#blocking-cross-environment-...). We also just launched an invite-only feature that creates a high-level Organizational structure with multiple teams, where each team member is only charged once.

    * Otel exports are in development and should be live in early access in a few weeks!

    * Heard on subnet IPs

    * There's ongoing work to remove a major Cloudflare dependency; it should also go live in a few weeks.

We'll keep polishing and pushing the envelope on control and flexibility. Thanks for being a vocal customer.

  19. This is the narrative we disagree with most people on and are focused on disproving: multiple unicorns have started and stayed on Render, and our platform continues to add capabilities as their needs become more complex.
  20. We need to improve our product marketing! Render focuses exclusively on application engineers who need to run things in the cloud without worrying about devops; this also means we don't focus on the needs of devops engineers.
  21. (I'm Render's founder) What should we build next, HN?
  22. Hello fellow Xtripe! This blog post wasn't meant to focus on differentiation, but you might find this useful:
