- That very good reason's name? Manufacturing Consent. Iraq WMDs 2.0 brought to you by Mr No New Wars.
- > probably rightfully
Surely we're all old enough to know that's an obvious lie. The US government probably doesn't know or care if Maduro is a dictator, they're just here for the oil.
- > hard time following through positions logically,
Spoken like a person who either doesn't know or doesn't care that current anti-abortion policies in several red states have women scared to get pregnant, despite wanting to do so voluntarily, because doctors are refusing life saving procedures on the mother if the state can possibly perceive it as abortion, leading to many scenarios of live births to dead mothers, including one case of a corpse being artificially kept alive for weeks for the sake of the baby.
The abortion laws of most blue states are already a rational compromise (still a very conservative leaning one) between the practical rights of women and the religious beliefs of far right totalitarians.
- If I say yes, are we going to start building high speed rail?
- 2010 is the year I personally go with. I could be too young to realize it actually started in 2005.
Either way, "no longer trying" is how I would describe the US leadership over the last 2 (or more!) decades.
- Common sense would say that if you're writing a long message, you should draft it in a better editor than a chat program.
- Also fed up with skyrocketing rent and food greedflation...
- Enough about Trump, this thread is about Mamdani.
- TIL that giving book buyers the choice between the classic uncensored version of a book and a revised version of a book with blatant antisemitism removed, a choice provided by a book publisher, is an example of the Democrats being almost as bad as Republicans.
- > Larger numbers of people are rising up against the CCP and recent events are becoming more and more frequent.
Do you have a source on that, preferably one that's not quoting a cult like the chinese version of scientology, not uploading daily china-will-collaspse-soon videos, not a tankie, or other random type of propaganda/fanboy outlet?
- There is definitely a type of famine going on in the US right now, 40 million are struggling with food insecurity. There is also a crises of healthy food being unaffordable, so people are essentially eating 2x their daily calories while getting 0.5x their daily nutrients. Then there are multiple political decisions that have already been made this year that will result in various forms of crop loss (migrants scared to show up at work) and disease outbreak (RFKJr's raw milk). The results of which are likely to impact food prices. The people who are hit hardest by this will already have been hit the hardest by greedflation in rent.
- No, the problem is when the markets are freer than the people.
- Interesting that they pick transpeople to have a phobia over, considering the fact is you're far more likely to be assaulted in the bathroom by a cis man, transvestigator, republican, Christian, or ICE agent than a transwoman.
- Are they actually contrarians or are they people who were looking deeply into the topic and noticed both a bubble and an opportunity?
- I forgot what SCP-055 was, but I do remember it was the one that really hooked me into the SCP world.
- > This leads the platform to publish dodgy stories from the right, with the appearance that they are just as valid as high-fact reporting from the left or the center.
Sadly, this is downstream of mainstream news itself. I think if Ground News attempted to truly solve this problem, the right would condemn Ground News as "fake news" or controlled by Soros like they do Wikipedia.
I'm looking to be skeptical of Ground News, because almost all YouTube sponsors are scams, and we remember Honey was recently exposed as a scam, but this isn't enough to convince me.
- What's really the difference between union guys playing a little bit of cards on the boss's dime and the boss paying you poverty wages so he can upgrade to a bigger yacht? might as well pick the option that's going to have your back.
It would be ridiculous to argue that the current regime has any genuine concerns or interest about democracy, drug trafficking (even just pardoned one), or the legitimacy of Venezuela's government.
