- ammanleyBit of an tangent, but I remember hearing about Hotwire Native a while back, and then relative silence. Can I ask how your experience has been with it, and the level of support/documentation/features for the kind of mobile apps you've been building with it?
- I could hear the misophonia dialogue
- Well I heard there were actually two of these.
- I recommend rats, we have them in surplus around here-parts.
- always so much
- Im looking forward to the life experience that is content I want to read badly enough to endure a rectal exam.
- The Executor struggles to decipher the font of the document.
- I hate this so much.
- I don't like this business card :( -- me, a JS dev far too often
(but also, thank you for sharing this!)
- Thank you, appreciate that, was looking to put a word to the term in my brainpan.
- Reminds me of the situation with AOL dialup, which I was surprised as heck to learn is a) still a thing and b) charges way more than I would have expected in areas where its otherwise not feasible to get high speed internet (easily). Could be similar to the situation here with people who can't leave/won't leave for personal or career reasons, and taking up the prices available.
- You got some strangely heated responses to this, but I just wanted to say I share your boat. Its nice to see real pics as an adult now of it all. Also, my trip to Phobos and Deimos was, you could say, hellish. 11/10, would rip and tear again.
- This was a fascinating read, thank you for sharing. TIL!
EDIT: Is your home IP address for your mac static? Seems like if it was dynamic, this would need to be updated, though I know you can use some simple programs to dynamically inquire for the IP, and then just template it out into the config files before launching, just in case.
- I might be reading this wrong, but is this something where you could launch your containerized app running on whatever port, and map it to `localhost:443` using something along the lines of `docker run -p 127.0.0.1:443:<whatever port in the container> My-App-Image` ? (might need sudo). I read this as wanting to have <your IP>:443 proxy to the container. Hope I'm not crazy.
- I appreciate you for bringing this up. I will definitely do this, as I had given up on the whole schtick for a while (mostly just the 420 now)
- Did you find that that helped you focus despite anxiety? Annoyingly, I've only been able to get my hands on the most common one, Adderall, which turns me into a bouncy boy flying off the walls for some reason. It sadly seemed to trigger my anxiety too. Child comment mentions trying some others, which I might do.
(Have been on multiple different anti anxiety / depression meds, as well as a few anti seizure meds too fwiw.)
- Been there buddy (including that exact, form-letter rejection email). I feel for you. I just finished a 9 month interview cycle of funemployment, with a break of two months in-between where I too, was questioning my reason for even being in this industry.
My background is a coding bootcamp + relentless up-skilling and self-directed learning (with the help of some mentors), plus a healthy side of ADHD/spectrum issues, including, best of all, crippling social anxiety.
I cannot tell you in words how astounding it is to go from a full stack dev lead, to being reduced to failing junior-level code interviews because my brain just leaves the chat in the middle of most interactions with new people, let alone interactions involving cognitive effort/hazing.
You matter and the fact we have to spin our wheels on this grindstone does not change that.
- I'm really glad you are taking care of yourself and found a way to navigate this (game) situation amicably. I've had this happen in both gaming and career context (didn't know what it was at the time) and boy did that set me off skelter for a few months. I hope you have a supportive non-judgmental network of people you trust to lean on.
More resilience is common advice, but agree that its not a panacea for actual trauma. Love that it strikes in interviews for me...
Be well friend!
- Really appreciate the through review, this sheds a lot of light on things for me. Thanks a ton.
- I do like that idea, thank you.
