- I’ve been working on Toolbit — a simple developer toolbox
This privacy-friendly developer toolbox that bundles a bunch of everyday utilities (JSON formatter, JWT decoder, Base64 encoder, Markdown previewer, etc.) into a single, consistent interface.
It works completely on client side and designed for quick, distraction-free workflows.Right now, the app has a clean sidebar with all tools organized by category .Also it offers as PWA.
It started because I kept opening random web tools for tiny tasks and most of them have lots of ads and not sure where the data is shared with the backend.
Would love to get thoughts from other devs here:
1) What small utilities do you find yourself searching for all the time?
2) Would you prefer a desktop version or just use the web app?
3) Any other “must-have” features you’d want in something like this?
- For all its advanced capabilities, the LLM remains a glorified natural language interface. It is exceptionally good at conversational communication and synthesizing existing knowledge, making information more accessible and in some cases, easier to interact with. However, many of the more ambitious applications, such as so-called "agents," are not a sign of nascent intelligence. They are simply sophisticated workflows—complex combinations of Python scripts and chained API calls that leverage the LLM as a sub-routine. These systems are clever, but they are not a leap towards true artificial agency. We must be cautious not to confuse a powerful statistical tool with the dawn of genuine machine consciousness.

- I can see this evolving into something like AWS — a platform that offers high-end production tools to anyone willing to pay. That would democratize access to cutting-edge tech, effectively solving the tooling problem. But it still wouldn’t address the real bottleneck: compelling storytelling.

- The current state of so-called AI does not provide much meaningful assistance in software development beyond basic tasks such as explaining workflows, breaking down thought processes, and performing simple conversions. I believe that generative AI, in its current form, is not true artificial intelligence. Rather, it is a sophisticated prediction engine that lacks genuine reasoning or understanding.
True AI should be capable of comprehending problems and devising its own solutions, rather than merely generating statistically likely outputs. Until AI reaches that level of cognitive ability, its applications in the real world remain limited, and much of what we see today is largely hype.
Tokenization and embeddings merely help models predict the most probable next token, a process that is executed at scale using vast computational resources. This is not intelligence but large-scale probabilistic prediction. The terminology used in computer science, especially in recent years, can often be misleading.

I was getting these messages for sometime and installed it finally. It is the same app that is mentioned in the article. My phone is already in the system then.
