  1. On these MacBooks the VRR modules were particularly prone to overheating and throttling because of the GPU regardless of the CPU model.
  2. If the US had universal healthcare I bet there would be a lot more .NET startups as corp devs would have the freedom to pursue their dreams.
  3. EF or EFCore? Specifically EFCore is highly regarded whereas legacy EF not so much.
  4. Isn't it just a single file installation?
  5. It's no longer so hyper optimized and performs very well today in the metric compared to any other comparable framework.
  6. do you have a link or anything that supports this claim? As I recall it was an error in the reporting utility not the drives themselves.
  7. On the laptop it doesn't cut into the normal screen ratio. So it's basically free pixels minus the notch.
  8. What are the quirks with local dev that make it not fun?
  9. To you and me they are not, but to this administration I wouldn't be surprised if they were considered as such.
  10. Can you elaborate on Docker Swarm? I thought it lost out to Kubernetes and was effectively dead.
  11. Interesting, most people have the opposite experience. 4 year old M1 here still amazing perf and OS support.
  12. Memory<T> is the heap compatible version of Span<T> in C# for anyone curious.
  13. In my experience Apple devices are the only ones that get sleep right.
  14. The quicker it completes the op the quicker the cpu goes back to low power state. Battery life.
  15. He didn’t say 8 gigs is great but that you can get by with about 8 gigs less than equivalent on Windows.
  16. lol no.

They had a fat desktop client and often Windows networking drivers because even the OS wasn't network ready for consumers yet.

  17. Sounds more like urban vs rural with respect to crime rates than guns or not.
  18. I think red voters in this category aren't dumb but prefer a convenient lie than a complex truth when it comes to what the problems are in this country and how to fix them.

I guess you could say the same about Dem voters and Biden's health but to be honest I think most Dem voters were probably just voting AGAINST Trump. Plenty of people on the Dem side want the old guard/status quo to retire for new blood.

  19. The US maintaining order (and providing foreign aid) is a form of soft power which this administration doesn't seem to value (or maybe even understand). It also benefits US corporations and their interests' abroad.
  20. well I mean you'd use await foreach and IAsyncEnumerable equivalent... async would mean the UI would not be blocked so I agree with the original commenter you replied to.
  21. I wouldn’t say extremely critical of Trump. He brings half of it on himself. Simply reporting what he says and does that makes him look incompetent is not being particularly critical.
  22. Are their shareholders fine with that?
  23. No they didn’t. If anything it was being discussed and most likely only for Amazon Haul, which is not normal Amazon.

That said I wish they would.

  24. APPL? Relevant to the discussion above on similar names.
  25. don't even need third party apps -- just pick a 16:10 resolution and the menu bar will shift down.
  26. They might once they are off Qualcomm modems (the new 16e is now an Apple modem). Qualcomm charges them a royalty fee per device sold.
  27. I’d say the general public got sick of the strawman version of the democrats presented by Fox News and other right media. The disinformation was epic.
  28. Or: imagine how much worse it would be had we never had these agencies?
  29. In some ways debt can make us stronger. We issue bonds which the entire world wants to buy. This isn't like your household credit card debt. This is debt that fuels growth and investment in the United States. Partially, because of this we don't have to carry reserves of foreign currency or peg our dollar to another country. I don't know what the right amount is but low interest rates indicate the market does not consider this amount of debt to be problematic.

A better question is: what are we getting for our spending as a nation? Rather than pearl clutching at the amount.
