  1. What about Ken Thompson?
  2. Thank you General Turgidson.
  3. Was there ever a cooler guy who could actually write? I don't think so.

Anyone who rates "Dr. Strangelove" as a great movie is OK by me.

  4. "Play It Again Sam". Diane Keaton++.
  5. East St. Louis, Illinois would like to have a chat with Decatur about which is worst.
  6. TI Silent 700?
  7. Frankly I am glad to be an older American. I'd hate to be young and comtemplating America's future right now.
  8. I was going to say that the whole thing is more than a whiff of WeWork, but the article's author beat me to it.
  9. Excellent Sopranos reference.
  10. "I'm not afraid of women, Mandrake. But I do deny them my essence."
  11. One of my all-time favorite movies that not many of my friends have seen. What a shame ...
  12. All this winning.
  13. One state not to visit.
  14. Where have I heard that before?
  15. Now do chicken. Here in the USA chickens are getting bigger (I saw a 6.5 pound chicken in the store the other day) and blander. The tissue to me seems very spongy. What is going on with chickens?
  16. This was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
  17. Many, many years ago I saw a Connection Machine running. Let me just say it was not a machine that you just walked by. "What the hell is that thing?!?" was more like it.
  18. I don't know who this is so please name names.
  19. Was working in Seismic Data Processing at the time and, a Cray being way too expensive, the Convex machine looked like the next Big Thing in our business, which was dominated by VAX 11/780 machines running attached array processors. We had some test code that I believe we ran on the third or sixth machine they built. Met Steve Wallach, I still have a signed copy of "The Soul of a New Machine" from him. Made a few trips to Convex, first in their rented space in a strip mall, then later to their bespoke factory. They really were something at the time.
  20. No one interested in railroad simulations running Run8 here?
  21. Donald Sutherland as "Hawkeye Pierce" in M.A.S.H. made such an impression on when I saw this movie on its release as a very young teenager. I've pretty much never got along with authority since.

    RIP Donald Sutherland.

  22. You are frankly out of your mind if you think Elon Musk and any of his companies are going to take you where you want to go.
  23. Hard to believe that at one time Williams was one of the dominant teams in F1. The first F1 car I ever saw at full-song was Alan Jones in the Williams FW07 @ Montreal. I simply could not believe what I was seeing (and hearing).
  24. Only after they got caught.
  25. When I was running a micro-ISV way back in the day I thought I had really made it when I could afford to advertise in Dr. Dobb's journal. The magazine was a really big deal many years ago, and I still miss those days.
  26. I'm sure just about everyone has seen "Blade Runner" by now - double points if you've seen the later version without Harrison Ford's narration. But you really need to see "12 Monkeys" if you haven't yet. Amazing, and these days somewhat timely.
  27. Thanks for writing a great summary of year #6 for your business. Question: where do your advertising dollars go and how do you measure their success?

    Good luck in year #7!
