   Very hit or miss though. And withs some exceptions like Slow Horses, their productions feel overly produced, oiled by agency crossover and 360 package deals, i.e., manufactured from script to screen. Even Pluribus has that smug sanitized gloss.

   Apple has a ruthless competitive upper echelon that gets rewarded on metrics that prioritize market hits and revenue increases. Get ready for more of this.

    Logged in with f'g G, picked an "experience," waited 30 sec to load(!) then picked 8 sec run from 4 / 8 / 12 sec...

    "Not enought credits." Hmm. Somehow I thought it was a demo but I guess, yeah.

    TL/DR: Nowhere close to ready for prime time.

    Was it? He concludes that LLMs will never write Shakespeare, or create original work of that caliber, or animate an actor the way Ben Guinness could have done it. I'm paraphrasing but isn't this confirmaation bias from a guy now heavily vested in making movies? Move 37 was so astonishing the world champiion Go player, hardly known for theatrics, got up and left the table. It was considered an insanely "original" move. In every field we don't consider deeply "human," Ai has jumped light years ahead, in astonishing ways. Affleck is entitled to his opinion and seems like he's trying to understand things, but I think poetry, acting, music, they're all on the table until they aren't, for better or worse.

    Is Nvidia about to have an iPhone moment? Nvidia releases an AI-based phone with an assistant you talk to, no other UI necessary. It could remain aware during calls like an available assistant so you can direct it to do follow up tasks, like check calendars, etc. It could completely change the paradigm and disrupt Apple's business model entirely.

    On a 6 year old iPhone 6 here. Solid, charges quick, no battery issues, good pics, you name it. I may upgrade to go all USB-C but may wait to see if the 15 has issues.

    Agreed, Shell is f'd. Increasingly I wonder if Apple is in the same boat. An AI-based phone from SpaceX with Starlink connectivity, or from Nvidia, would disrupt their entire business model. And they don't really seem to get AI.

    I went to a graduation a few years ago at Carnegie Mellon. Some hedge fund guy was making his biggest donation yet and gave the commencement speech. It was endlessly about him and the new building to be named after him and how he was about to own an NFL football team. There was a Nobel Prize winner seated next to him on stage. I don't think she got to say anything, but was recognized for her work in cancer research. The juxtaposition felt Kafkaesque and a bit sleazy.
