  1. Google denies qualified people all the time. They would much rather reject a great hire than take a risk on accepting a mediocre one. I feel for him but it's just the nature of the beast. Not everyone will get in.
  2. Google was using them as wall mural artwork in one of the Sunnyvale offices. Very trippy.
  3. Works fine in Mobile Safari.
  4. They get paid more if you get a parking ticket.
  5. Moderation isn't used for filtering out the most tolerant individuals. (Look up the paradox of tolerance sometime.)
  6. It also puts a thumb on the scale for AI, which tends to emit pages of text to answer simple questions.
  7. Fire Stick is the most enshittified device (which is why it was so cheap). AppleTV is fantastic if you're willing to spend $100. You don't need the latest gen; previous gen are just as good.
  8. You could turn off Multifinder in System 6, no problem. It wasn't until System 7 that it was fully baked-in.
  9. System 6 had menu blinks, zoom animations (with rect XORs no less), and button blinks when you used keyboard completion. Mac was the original "wasteful animation" OS.
  10. Walmart is the same. I believe it's very very slightly more expensive to process Apple Pay payments (Apple's getting a tiny fractional amount of the sale), and this was the actual sticking point.
  11. None of Meta's revenue has anything to do with AI at all. (Other than GenAI slop in old people's feeds.) Meta is in the strange position of investing very heavily in multiple fields where they have no successful product: VR, hardware devices, and now AI. Ad revenue funds it all.
  12. The page works fine in Mobile Safari.
  13. Why use blockchain here? I don't see how this would make the list of actions any more trustworthy. No one else was involved and no one can disprove anything.
  14. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that they suddenly started working nonstop, even on weekends…? If AI is so great, why can’t they get a single day off in two months?
  15. I’m not sure why you would think the “top N” of any given field would be men. There aren’t more men than women overall, and men aren’t inherently any smarter or more talented. If you’ve only ever worked in tech, though, maybe you have a skewed perspective.
  16. Making a "smart person only" Internet is a social problem, not a technology problem.
  17. AWS' core advantage is price. No one cares if they are "behind on AI" or "the VP left." At the end of the day they want a cheap provider. Amazon knows how to deliver good-enough quality at discount prices.
  18. I mean, that's still proving the point that tooling matters. I don't think his point was "MCP as a technology is extraordinary" because it's not.
  19. The adapter breaks down on sufficiently massive repos. Unfortunately, there's a reason Perforce is still in use despite no one liking it. Git scales via sub-repos, but those have their own drawbacks, and no one is enthusiastic enough about this to champion it.
  20. Follow these guidelines and you'll be surprised how far you can go.
