  1. This isn’t accurate. The thing that’s going to possibly be depleted is “Arrow 3” - the first line of aerial defense (excluding operations that target the launchers within Iran). They still have plenty of Arrow 2 and David’s’ slingshot missiles.
  2. Training is much more computationally intensive than computing a _single_ answer. But not compared to running the model over time at scale for millions of users.
  3. In war, you care more about losing/winning than a moral high ground - an imaginary prize for the “superior” nation who chooses to appear weak.
  4. I mean, it’s not like he created this feature, or that it’s a “weird undocumented trick” he found out…

Do you have to credit every person who shows you anything on the internet nowadays? Or is it just the common twitter-hate on HN?

  5. This is all very unfortunate. However - once the world realizes that deepfakes can be generated virtually for free and for anyone, no one will trust them. We might even be better off with them rather than without as no one could tell if a genuinely leaked photo of yours is real. The same has happened with phone records as evidence in court (in some countries)
  6. You can increase Elasticsearch’s max fields limitation by modifying the index.mapping.total_fields.limit cluster config
  7. You can disable this by running Chrome with —-disable-web-security. If you only need this to access local files, you can do —-allow-file-access-from-files
  8. Read about the Same origin Policy and Content Security Policy. MDN is a canonical resource for this.
  9. Since anyone can open an issue, they’re bound to be low quality unless moderated.
  10. Seems like the article fails to realize that the more popular an application is, the more likely it is to be deleted. Which is a very basic assumption to make.

Also, it might be with something with how hard it is to uninstall the app in a specific platform. For example - I actually didn’t have a “delete” button for the Facebook app on my previous phone. This might popularize the search term significantly.

  11. I don’t get it. If there’s a shortage of EEs, which are required for tech to operate, wouldn’t salaries rise up because of the demand? I mean, tech isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.. is it?
