  1. Or alternatively, some marker to indicate the presence of an “only in mice” comment
  2. So many knee jerk comments from people who have not read the article. The author describes how existing logging systems are geared towards applications, and sometimes libraries need a way of logging that provides more granularity and control - especially when the library spans multiple levels of abstraction.
  3. The submitted title buries the lede. It should be:

“OBS Studio Gets A New Renderer: How OBS Adopted Metal”

  4. He’s kidding
  5. People worried about Chinese ownership of their Roombas, but completely OK with Alexa and Google devices in their homes.
  6. That’s why I aim for my code to be custard-like.
  7. I thought this was a classy response. It’s very hard to address the original points of criticism without coming across as too defensive, but he managed to do it well. On top of that the author is kind of speaking on behalf of the whole CMS industry, which when all taken together certainly has a lot of issues. He made a good case for his product without trashing his competitors.
  8. No it’s his parents who don’t want him interfering with their thriving warez empire
  9. From a Litestream user’s perspective:

Litestream continues to work as always, making continuous backups to S3.

Like always, I can restore from those backups to my local system.

But now I have the option of doing “virtual restores” where I can query a database backup directly on S3.

  10. Such a dingbat move
  11. I’ve used it when I didn’t want the hassle of another dependency
  12. Everything is working 100% for me
  13. No bonuses will be paid until every text box has an “improve this text in some way” option.
  14. Oh no, this will lead to better models for less money!
  15. Cool plot for a novel, I’d read that!
  16. Just watched it, the uncanny valley is a perfect match for their simulacra of food.
  17. It seems that when you’re selling fast food you’re in a world very far away from the one where livelihoods are being threatened by AI
  18. By all means tell us why
  19. Some interesting thoughts and I think there’s definitely an increasing acceptance of the importance of the physical experience of the world as being integral to true intelligence.

However, the fact that 7 LLMs agree with the author is not at all the same thing as peer review

  20. Perfect, let Apple spread it out over multiple AI providers - if that helps monopolies from forming in AI I’m all for it!
