- InitialLastName"Politics as a zero-sum game" is a self-fulfilling prophecy that's only true if you see it as "competing over who gets all the power". In a more sympathetic perspective, politics is just how communities self-organize, make decisions and build compromise between the needs and interests of their stakeholders. Especially at the local level (where the feedback path between "make a decision" and "affect peoples' lives" is the shortest and most accessible), that can mostly involve people being available to do the work that needs to happen to build consensus and get anything done done to improve the lives of the community members.
- Luckily you get the "extremely confident, even when wrong" attribute for free.
- This was great for the 10 mins it took to get through the whole playlist, then really jarring when it repeated.
- If you were born in 1970, you (and presumably the people you grew up with) are ~55. The sample set in this particular study are 71-88 years old (plus 7 years after), so 16+ years older than you (years that also coincide with increased prevalence of noticeable dementia and neurodegeneration).
- Driver-controlled aero has the potential to be way more interesting than the strictly-limited current DRS implementation.
The most interesting DRS era was in 2011-2012 when drivers could operate it (almost) anywhere they wanted in practice and qualifying. There was an element of risk in how early you could open it exiting a corner, and we saw real mistakes from drivers pushing that limit.
More driver controls leads to more opportunities for talented drivers to make a difference, which leads to a better sports product.
- Alternately: Self-made wealth is so frequently derived from evil that those who are born rich and come good owe penance for the sins of their forebears.
- > Is there a little computer doing DAW work inside the earpiece?
Yes, and likely always running all filters at high fidelity rather than power-saving whenever there isn't something to amplify.
- If you don't want it, I'll take that name for my stoic-forward dating service.
- For a variety of reasons I've set a personal best for time in large hospitals in the last year. They can be very difficult to navigate in the best of times, much less in the less-than-ideal mental state that often accompanies time in a hospital.
- For a salmon-sized taste, Bartleby the Scrivener. Great annotated version here: https://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2015/10/herma...
- Yes, heavily disputed, to the point that there are widespread campaigns on the internet to normalize the various sovereignty claims under the guise of day-to-day conversation about those locales (e.g. conspicuously referring to them as being "in India" or "in Pakistan" or "in China"). For example, see the Google maps reviews for any landmarks in the area.
- Try being Microsoft and having two different LLM products and an entire office suite named Copilot.
- 3 in the last year, none in a school. I'm not sure what your point is.
- They've been trained by a decade of referring to advanced cruise control as "full self-driving".
- Off-topic, but reading that will is a fascinating study in 19th-century international economics: In the initial outlays, I count 5 different currencies (crowns, francs, florins, dollars, marks). I don't think anyone now would bequest cash in anything other than their native currency (to be converted by the heir).
- All of these apps are 100% using your scroll speed/how long you spend engaging with the content as a data point. After all, "time spent engaging with the content" is the revenue driver.
- All of the above, plus implement the control interface expected by the driver and maybe control loops to keep the voltages in range at the point of load. You probably could do it with a breakout board, but good luck getting the right voltage drops to the chip (or fitting it in a cellphone case).
- "Moves" are counted for both players. Half a move means White moved but Black hasn't yet.
- To be fair, it's nice to have the typography rearranged to work upside down.
- Writing top-to-bottom has advantages for all writers whose eyes are above their hands. The bit of the writing surface that's blocked by your hand hasn't been written on yet.
