- Ghoyome parentI just had a realization. Usually in my private repos I do “what;why” so I can go back to commits when I brake stuff. But I should be using branches for what and commits for why…
- My suspicion is it is a bias to one’s mother tongue. I feel the same way about Arabic. English feels “lawless” and “undeconstructable” in some cases, no equation for “creating” words that works every time. In this sense Arabic is way more “Mathematical “ to me although all the number theory, graph theory, discrete math etc. books I’ve read are written in English.
- A workflow like this:
RTM -> SO question (not found) -> IRC/Discord -> post question on SO.
As opposed to this:
LLM -> RTM -> SO (maybe post a question)
Simply has SO earlier in the pipeline. The later does not render it obsolete (yet?) from what I can tell.
If a simple annotation to how the LLM got the answer is deployed I think that is where SO will be visited only to ask questions rather than find an answer (still not obsolete).
P.S. this is speculative at best at this stage. SO can be rendered obsolete by some hidden side effect of LLMs/search engines
- A solution already exists. Hnrss[1], just need an rss reader.
- Windows > Tabs every single time. What helped me most was a good window manager:
• A single floating window acting as an opener*
• windows are always arranged in the case of tiling wms.
• In the case of Firefox user.css can help u remove the tab bar entirely. And opening in windows rather than tabs can be configured.
• I built my own window fuzzy searcher for finding windows.
The effect is compulsory need to close windows asap but keep a couple of windows forever that are actually for doing work. In my case :
• newsboat > firefox. • Cmus > firefox. • Aerc > firefox. • Irssi > firefox.
The list goes on and on.
The benefit is this: every job has it’s own window.
Note that still it is 100% the case that when not in “production/building” mode the default is consuming. This setup merely helps heighten awareness to the fact.
Hope it helps!

- Comfort is a drug. Once you get used to it becomes addicting. Give a weak person consistent stimulation, good food, cheap entertainment and they will throw their ambitions right out the window. Comfort is a graveyard of dreams.
For a shit ton of my teens all I did was chase comfort until this hit me earlier last year. Now I wait for pain to make sure what Im doing goes against the current to bend the resistance to my will.
Goggins sums it up: if you like running what you learning? If you like boxing well what are you learning? People say double down on your strengths. Fuck that triple down on your weaknesses.
Jordan Peterson in one of his lectures: if you expose people to what they fear they get stronger and we don’t know the upper limits to that.
In short: fk comfort, chase pain. That is the 21st century’s killer instinct.
