  1. I have something that gives you the data in CSV/SQL insert statements.

I also provide an option to select how to generate data for specific fields.

UI is a bit clunky - will revamp it :)

  2. You can self host searxng and block domains - increase priority on some etc. I do it myself.

  3. I'm not sure if kindle has a browser but if it has one then I have a web application that you can use to get daily top posts at a glance.

    PS: Has reddit posts too:)

  4. I personally think stopping the use of AI is silly. I mean you could apply this logic to everything that you would be using specialized tools for, to make life better.

Why would you use a car? studies show walking is better. Why would you use a calculator? studies show mental math sharpens your brain. Why would you type on a computer? studies show writing on a physical paper is better for you.

Fundamentally people tend to use AI to get a result and then just use it instead of critically thinking over it. It makes sense, we take the path of least resistance. Why care about how something works when it just works? This leads to cognitive decline.

Rather I propose that you use AI as one of the greatest search engines ever invented. Think of AI (LLMs) as a dataset of fixed knowledge that can talk back to you and actually help you find the information you want.

When I was looking into making selenium scripts, that I had to write for work, more robust, I came up with a solution to create an object for each page and use that object to navigate and interact with the page. I then had a conversation with gemini pro regarding this where it told me that, what I am trying to achieve is technically just Page Object Model (POM), a pre-existing concept in the world of test automation. This lead to a deep dive into the advantages/disadvantages and I then pitched it as a change to better write selenium code and it was accepted at work.

Likewise, you should not use AI to vomit you code but as a rubber duck that quacks back at you [0]

I'm a backend developer for the most part but I also do full stack development if the UI isn't highly complex. Before I got laid off - I was making it @ Autodesk.

I have quite some experience dealing with LLM based applications - taming them into giving more sane answers. The best one that I have built so far lets you attach to any data sources (SQL/NoSQL/Files etc) and then just ask questions about them. Literally any question (even outside the schema) and it never makes up stuff.

If you prefer - you could directly schedule a meet @ https://calendly.com/suvarnanarayanan2g/30min?month=2025-07

If you cannot make the slots to work for the calendar above, please shoot me an email and I will do a meet at a time you are comfortable with. Cheers!

My going rate at the moment is $5 per hour (subject to complexity and my preference) - capped at 8 hours a day for 5 days a week, which is around $200/wk at minimum.

I am very transparent about my work and I do not ask for payment beforehand and no compulsion to pay if work is not up to your standards. Also, before I take you as my client, we will do a call - this helps me to have a measure at your expectations/requirements and helps to build a bond which is something I really value.

  8. Thank you!, providing examples about tricky situations is something I will try. My company has their own azure openai deployment which is the only thing we could use to integrate into company related tools.
  9. Do you mean like my approach is bad or the whole business problem in particular cannot be solved effectively?
  10. A lot of people suck up to them, they seem to require formal ID proof to authorize your account outside EU and they can deny you without any reason whatsoever. If you look up online about similar things happening to others, the standard response you would see is "If you don't like them, take your business elsewhere". I would rather pay more with digital ocean than to be treated like untouchable with hetzner.

I will be graduating in about 5 months and would love to find a nice junior
developer role at a nice startup that focusses on impact. I have been
employed at a startup for more than a year and its a python shop.

I have a portfolio site at https://home.alles-tools.com/ where you could
interact with all the applications that I have made. I love creating or
making software that either benefit me or someone I know. It keeps me
motivated and I get to actually finish it.

What's the hardest problem that I have worked with? Making the multiplayer
part work for my tictactoe game. Why did I make it? because I was bored at
university. Concurrency management is hard and its even harder to debug it. I
had to make sure to synchronize critical parts of the game where I update the
        game state.

  17. > Personally I found it pretty easy to learn (was building apps in it as quickly as I could in nodejs after jsut 2 weeks)

Makes me feel better! I have also successfully converted one of my java spring-boot app to phoenix though I am not sure how efficient it is. It definitely involves way more magic than spring for sure! Maybe its just quite hard for me to make the jump from imperative/OOPs way of coding to the functional way.

    > would love your input on what would be needed for a learning resource as I have been thinking about writing a book on phoenix for newbies.

I would love to help! I think the harder part of making such a resource is updating and staying on par with the framework devs.

  18. > Also, I believe prag studio gives away 1/2 of that initial course for free

If I have read their website right, they say only first three modules are free, the whole course has 35 modules.

    > there seems to be a host of free videos on YT as well as many books on elixir/phoenix

You are right about the videos, though I am not so sure about books. Phoenix 1.7 doesn't seem to have any good books for it at all.

  19. I feel like it is significantly harder to learn elixir and phoenix as a newbie. The learning curve is very steep owing to the fact that good learning resources seems to be scarce, maybe not for elixir but definitely for phoenix. I have been trying to grasp it for a month now, but an up-to-date resource is nowhere to be found and oh, please don't tell me to go read the documentation. It is not meant to be read by beginners. Almost everyone in the community recommends the prag studio course but $200?? I can't afford it XD

I have been working semi-full time (~5-6 hours a day) for
the past 7 months as a backend developer using Django
framework at a startup after university hours. I would
prefer to find a job where I could work with Java, but
still open to python based roles if the project is cool.

      Mostly looking for internships/semi-full time
      opportunities
(5-6 hours a day) and work timings around 14:00 to 20:00 IST.
  24. Couldn't find anything online to play a simple tic tac toe game with my friends that didn't require signing in or was ad-free, so I made one :)
