  1. Is this a guide for Russian saboteurs?
  2. People want the value of their house to go up after they buy it, but stay low before they buy it. This is all nonsense. If people in an area keep breeding, housing costs will go up. It's that simple. Increasing housing prices are actually one of the only checks that keep humans from overbreeding and ruining large swaths of desirable places to live.
  3. Why don't they put these ads behind a Bloom filter? That's a lot of memory use, even with FlatBuffers.
  4. You also can't downvote all comments, only a subset. HN is shit now.
  5. It's hard to take anything this author says seriously when it's snowing all over their text.
  6. They're going from Microsoft to... Linux. From bad to worse. Just use macOS and get on with your life.
  7. See also elonmusk.today
  8. Switch to what? Windows is horrible and Linux is just as bad (but in different ways).
  9. For failing?
  10. Yes, Groq failed. But there will be others.
  11. The afterlife does not exist. Ask Santa Claus if you don't believe me. Unless you mean how future lives will judge Karp, which is valid.
  12. Who will save humanity from Elon Musk?
  13. Rewrite your core IDEs in Rust, Java/Kotlin suck.
  14. That product can still steal fab slots from cheaper, more prosumer products.
  15. If there were TCO advantages with this setup, CUDA would not be a blocker.
  16. No, Waymo is just going to license their tech to normal automakers, like Toyota, and those licensees will win. Rivian is run by a Musk-wannabe but even this stock pump isn’t going to help with his sociopath, multibillion dollar compensation package.
  17. Congrats, you invented a codec five years after H.265 which is very cheap, but inferior to state of the art. Meanwhile, Apple will eventually add hardware support for VVC and retain the best user experience for 8K and beyond.
  18. You have no right to privacy in public, at least in the US.
  19. Also, it’s not the whole picture. AV1 is open because it didn’t have the good stuff (newly patented things) and as such I also wouldn’t say it’s the most modern.
  20. Wow, no, not at all. It’s better to have a set of smaller, faster cliques connected by a slow network than a slower-than-clique flat network that connects everything. The cliques connected by a slow DCN can scale to arbitrary size. Even Google has had to resort to that for its biggest clusters.
  21. No, not at all. If this were true Google would be killing it in MLPerf benchmarks, but they are not.

It’s better to have a faster, smaller network for model parallelism and a larger, slower one for data parallelism than a very large, but slower, network for everything. This is why NVIDIA wins.

  22. My gods, out of 1.4 billion Windows users, one out of every 1,800 downloaded this Linux distribution? Yawn.
  23. The second paragraph of the article contradicts the title. There, it is stated that the charges are against a husband for removing evidence (presumably circumstantial evidence) against his wife. Evidence tampering is always illegal, even if it is a box of ideological literature (which presumably would be used to establish motive).
  24. No, the parent comment is just false and possibly libelous. Hope that helps.
  25. Makes sense, as fraud is the default for crypto transactions.
  26. Does it do anything useful yet?
  27. What laws were broken here?
  28. How much of that is self dealing Starlink?
  29. Blue Origin beats SpaceX to Mars.
