  1. I don't really try with family Fidesz members (Hungarian MAGA). I know why my relative believes what he does and I can't change that. I'm there for him as a friend, will share my conflicting views carefully but avoid getting dragged into a full on argument with emotions.
  2. Wow! Looks great and very inspiring. Great idea to make separate components that can be connected - something like a drum machine, sequencer, maybe even a chord synthesizer? It can be constrained such that you are always diatonic, you could have a mode knob too.

    Jamming with other people can be a life changing experience, and to do that as a child would be a great privilege to have.

  3. I managed to wake up in my early 30s, by watching my parents' health slowly start failing starting in their 50s.
  4. I have watched 10+ hours of lessons on compressors and I still don't hear it. I understand most concepts but don't use much compression besides side-chaining and the built-in Ableton glue compression.
  5. How would this work without headphones in a room? I'm guessing the noise would actually be amplified in some parts of the room.
  6. Why is that a bad thing? Choosing to be bored instead of mindlessly scrolling is great. Boredom was an important part of growing up for me.
  7. A while back I made a small browser game using emoji for all graphics. I was delighted to see so many different sets of emoji in screenshots people posted.
  8. But hearing and sound making both have many other uses. Jellyfish can "hear", crickets can make noises. I'm guessing we had both of these long before language.
  9. Looks like the sliding controllers bit means that they will work like a computer mouse.
  10. There is a cost to breaking captcha.
  11. Love the use of light blue color for the blinking cells! Surprisingly smooth UX considering we have checkboxes for cells.
  12. And you have a scam tweet immediately below this one.
  13. 2 days later, I just finished it. I'm finally free. Let this be a warning to future readers.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if that's also via Scandinavian influence (kyrke). Some other examples are bra, barn, hus.
  15. Any overweight person. I gained 10% of my bodyweight in the last 6 months and I haven't felt better. (Mostly eating plants though.)
  16. Quoting Brian Eno: "Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided. It’s the sound of failure: so much modern art is the sound of things going out of control, of a medium pushing to its limits and breaking apart"
  17. This happened to me yesterday, I don't remember the query but I remember I was quite surprised because it never happens. Turns out I misspelled a brand/product name by one letter - Funny enough, I would have wanted them to correct my query in this case.
  18. also, bank and note are only 15% related
  19. Not for me, personally. FB without ads still has no interesting content for me. YouTube premium is the best value for my money out of all my subscriptions due to content.

    On Facebook the network effect that made it cool in the beginning has now died and it will keep it from ever coming back for the same reasons it was great in the beginning. I'm very confident people I really care about will not start posting there, and they probably have the same thought process. It's just uncool.

  20. There are libraries (i.e. https://github.com/zenozeng/p5.js-svg) that give you a SVG runtime. I find it very useful!
  21. jesusfreke has a 3d printed version of this on github: https://github.com/JesusFreke/lalboard
  22. The halal haribo I had last week had beef based gelatin in it, instead of pork (I guess), so this one at least was not vegetarian.
  23. There have been 14 cases of (political) self-immolation in the 2020s so far:

  24. I got 261 points.

    Spoiler: QkFCRUwgUEFETE9DSyBSSEVUT1JJQw==

    Edit: 272 / QkxPQgpQQUNLRUQKUkhFVE9SSUNBTA==

  25. This one has the correct colors as well.
  26. coding is just ifs and for loops, computer science is just types, (to me) software engineering is a mix of those two
