that only works if the apps somehow reinforce each other, and spending time developing one app also adds something to the other apps. I'm not sure that's true here. I don't see how an LLM-based news service makes your search service stronger?

They do - Kagi News, Summarize and Translate all contribute back to the ecosystem and are getting integrated cross-product. We are in the business of information consumption and consuming news is one of the fundemental use cases. Having our own pipleine for this is beneficial long term.
