As someone who has created and runs automated trading algos (not a 4.5 Sharpe though) based off a lot of the things you've mentioned here, this still has no effect on the regular dude who puts $500 in SPY every other paycheck and forgets about it, like the guy you are responding to. If SPY goes to $0, we're all fucked anyway, regardless of what caused it.
