Could have been avoided with some basic research. Give your money where the industry is at the least trying to open source their appliances endpoints. Such as GE with their custom esphome framework and adapter or buy it with the intention to jailbreak.

I tend to buy large appliances and be ready to return them within exactly 24 hours (as homedepot/lowes allow for 48 hours typically). So make sure when you buy an appliance, you're READY to install-and return if something like this happens.
