Preferences

I have made two changes that have helped me quite a bit:

1. I read the news on print. I get the newspaper and a few print magazines delivered. That limits how much news I can read, gives a bit of a buffer from the "real-time effect" of trying to follow things too closely as they happen, and helps me create a more mindful experience of news consumption.

2. I read mostly foreign news sources that cover US news but treat it a bit more dispassionately than the average American news outlet.

I would recommend either for those finding that they would like to put a bit more distance between themselves and following the news.
