I ignored AMP for the following reasons:

1) It's a walled-garden type restriction

2) Once eveybody does it, there's no advantage

3) Large companies like to update technology, so it's an endless treadmill to keep up

My strategy was just to use static pages for the homepages, so automatically my sites are as fast as possible.
